You've probably noticed the stats that are displayed in bold beneath all other member info. These are combat attributes. The un-bolded "Gald" is for use for in shops, where you can by weapons, armor, or accessories to increase your attack, defense, agility, or magic. These four stats are meant to serve as guidelines for when conflicts turn up during RPs.
Are these stats concrete? No. This isn't a video game itself, but, as stated before, they should serve as guidelines when writing conflicts. Can someone with 28 attack defeat someone in a battle with 150 attack? Probably not, unless they have absolutely amazing defense and the opponent has hardly any. Use your own judgment, but try to be reasonable - you don't want to be considered to be godmodding or powerplaying, which may be the case if the person with 28 attack was to win against the character with 150 attack unless there was a very good reason given for it within the RP.
Note that, unfortunately, no code exists to allow different stat gains for different member groups, so all characters, regardless of battle class, gain the same stat raises per post. However, certain weapons and items are only purchasable by certain classes. Each character also gets an initial stat boost upon acceptance depending on class.
So, how do stats get raised? And what exactly do they represent? Below are explanations of each stat, including gald:
Purpose: The term for the amount of currency your character has. Your character will need this to buy weapons, armor, and accessories at shops to boost their other combat stats. The items that can be purchased vary by class.
Amount Earned Per Post: 10
Other Ways To Raise: Winning contests and awards.
♦ Attack
Purpose: Pretty simple. The strength and potency of your character's brute force in combat, whether they fight with their bare hands, with a blade, with a gun, or with some other weapon. This doesn't represent body strength so much, however, as weapon strength. Anyone without a weapon will likely be considerably weaker than someone in possession of one. Most powerful weapons are only available to the physical attack based classes.
Amount Earned Per Post: 2
Other Ways To Raise: Buying weapons
♦ Defense
Purpose: How vulnerable your character is to damage (both physical and magical). Physical attack classes generally have the strongest armor available, but all classes have some form of armor available to increase this stat.
Amount Earned Per Post: 2
Other Ways To Raise: Buying armor
♦ Agility
Purpose: How fast your character can attack and move, and how well they can react and dodge. This also affects the range at which they can attack. Classes like archers and summoners usually are the highest with this stat.
Amount Earned Per Post: 3
Other Ways To Raise: Buying accessories
♦ Magic
Purpose: A blanket term that covers the potency of both offensive attack spells and healing spells. This is the most important stat for mages and healers, and they have by far the highest potential with this stat, though all classes can utilize it to a degree.
Amount Earned Per Post: 1
Other Ways To Raise: Buying accessories or certain weapons or armor[/ul]
More information on shops, as well as buying accessories, armor, or weapons, are available at the shops themselves. Also note that all amounts earned per post and information regarding stats is subject to change at any time, especially during the early days of the board.
Feel free to PM me any questions or suggestions on the stats or money system that you might have. Remember that all the stats are meant to be guidelines only, not concrete rules that automatically determine a victor. Where would the fun in that be?[/size][/blockquote]
