Note that this isn't a completely comprehensive list of all the races available to be played (any race that has ever made an appearance in a Tales game is open), but this list does consist of most of the basic races, as well as most of the main races featured in the board's locations and plot.
The most common race. They are large in number and skilled with technology, but generally lack the ability to use natural magic, with just a few exceptions. They normally must utilize technology in order to find ways to use magic, if that's the route they choose. Many humans simply distrust magic and avoid it and anyone who uses it. Nonetheless, they're a successful, adaptable race.
♦ Elves
A nature-loving race with the ability to use magic without the aid of technology. They look relatively human aside from their pointed ears. Their current remaining population is small, and they prefer to keep to their own race. They have a very strict, traditional culture.
♦ Half-Elves
Beings that resulted from a union between a human and an elf. They are generally more human in appearance, but they have the elves' ability to use natural magic (many half-elves are actually extremely potent magic users). Because of this, they are disliked by both humans as well as elves, who believe that they are tainted in blood. They are one of the poorest races and have extremely low status.
♦ Dwarves
A proud but dying race. Dwarves have a short but burly stature, making them quite strong and sturdy when it comes physical combat. They are very skilled in old arts, like building, sculpting, and smithery, and generally have very independent, wise, and determined personalities.
♦ Gajuma
The Gajuma are a type of beastmen that are half human and half animal, ranging from having just a few animal features to being almost completely anthro in appearance. They are generally powerful physical warriors and excel at melee combat.
♦ Lycanthe
The Lycanthe are a type of beastmen that have two separate forms - an almost completely human-like form and an almost completely animal-like form. They can switch between these two forms at will. Like their other beastmen counterparts, they are generally a force to be reckoned with when it comes to physical combat, at least in their beast forms.
♦ Kirtya
A race with technology that surpasses that of humans. They live in an airborne colony, and are a very elegant-looking people. They also have long and pointed, almost elf-like ears. Another unique trait of theirs is the ability to tame and ride dragons, a traditional knowledge of their race. Despite their strengths, however, they are very limited in numbers. There aren't many of them remaining.
♦ Angels
People with wings and exceptionally powerful magic have recently begun appearing. Their wings vary greatly in appearance, ranging from feathery to translucent to crystalline, and individuals may appear to be based on any other race. Their origins are unknown, even to the angels themselves, as they all have no memories aside from first waking up to discover their wings - even their names and families escape them. They are called sacred beings by The Rebirth, who also claim that they will be the ones to eventually pass judgment on the corroding world.
♦ Replicas
Replicas are products of science, and as such have hardly any rights. They are similar to clones in that they are made from someone else's DNA, except for the fact that they don't start out as babies. A somewhat unsettling comparison, but think of putting someone through a copy machine and getting not only the original person back afterwards, but also a new person who was almost an exact copy, or "replica", of them. In some cases, but not always, the replica will even have memories of their original's life. They will also sometimes share a telepathic connection or link with their original. To put it bluntly, the concept disturbs some people, and replicas generally aren't wanted around. They can also be rather weak and sickly, but they are fully functioning human individuals. Nevertheless, they are the only race lower in status than half-elves.
Note on Replicas: You can make a replica of an already existing OC if you choose as long as you can get their player's permission. In this case, you would use the same face claim (the only instance in which a face claim could be used twice) and keep many of their same skills and traits. You could also establish a telepathic bond with the original if the original's player agrees. Again, however, you must have permission. And replicas can't be made of canons, as one Lloyd, for instance, is enough. Be aware that replicas don't have to be based on any existing characters, it's just an option.[/ul][/blockquote]
